Pet Odor

Pet odor that actually goes away. Not masked, eliminated.

Pet urine is three problems layered: crystallized urine salts in the pad and subfloor, bacteria feeding on the salts producing ammonia, and dyes from the food staining the face yarn. Surface cleaners only hit the third one, which is why the smell comes back on the next humid day. We treat the carpet, the pad, and the subfloor with enzyme, neutralize, extract, and rebuild, the full protocol.

What do homeowners ask about Pet Odor?

Why does my pet odor come back after I've cleaned the carpet?

Because the urine is under the carpet, not on it. When fresh urine hits carpet, gravity pulls it through the face yarn, into the pad, and onto the subfloor. Surface cleaning only treats the top. On humid days, crystallized salts in the pad rehydrate and the ammonia smell releases. The only real fix is treating all three layers.

Do I need to replace the pad?

Depends on severity. A single accident, caught early, no. Multiple deposits in the same spot over months, or a cat urinating repeatedly in one corner, probably yes. We test with a moisture meter and tell you honestly which it is. Pad replacement is cheap ($1/sq ft) compared to replacing the whole carpet.

What about pet stains on area rugs?

Area rugs need in-plant treatment for pet stains, the entire rug gets submerged in an enzyme bath, not just spot-sprayed. See our rug cleaning page. Attempting a DIY enzyme soak on wool will usually felt the fibers.

Can you remove the yellow stain too?

Most of the time, yes, if the stain is less than a few months old. Old pet stains can permanently change fiber dye. We try a tannin-and-protein combo spotter after the enzyme; if color won't return, we recommend a carpet patch in that spot.

Is the enzyme safe for pets and kids?

Yes. We use a protein-specific enzyme that's nontoxic when dry. We ask you to keep pets off the treated area until the carpet dries (4–6 hours); once dry, it's safe to walk on barefoot and for the dog to lie on.

Truck-mount made a night-and-day difference vs. the rental machine I had been using. Carpet looked brighter, dried in 4 hours, and no soapy feel underfoot. Clear price up front. Booked them again for October.

Carpet Cleaning Carlsbad

Inherited a house with a cat-urine problem. Other cleaners said surface clean only, these guys did UV inspection, found spots we didn't know about, replaced pad in the worst room. Smell is actually gone. A year later, still gone.

Pet Odor Treatment El Cajon

Had a hand-knotted Persian rug my grandmother gave us. Every other cleaner wanted to extract in place, they picked it up, did an in-plant wash, delivered it back in 5 days. Fringe looks new, colors look brighter. Careful work.
