Rug Cleaning

Area rug cleaning. Wool, silk, synthetic, antique — all welcome.

An area rug isn't wall-to-wall carpet — it can't be cleaned the same way. Wool shrinks when over-wet. Silk bleeds dye. Jute buckles and mildews. Hand-knotted rugs need full immersion, not just a surface pass. We do both in-home extraction for most synthetic rugs and in-plant immersion for natural-fiber and handmade pieces — pickup and delivery included.

What's included in this service?

  • In-home inspection and fiber identification (wool, silk, cotton, jute, polypropylene)
  • Colorfastness test in a corner before any wet process
  • In-home extraction for synthetic and most wool area rugs
  • Pickup, in-plant wash, and delivery for hand-knotted and antique rugs
  • Cold-water immersion for wool to avoid shrinkage
  • pH-neutral shampoo to protect vegetable-dyed fibers
  • Full dry on a flat rack with controlled air — no hanging
  • Fringe hand-cleaning and light blocking for out-of-shape rugs

When do you need this service?

  • Rug has been down for more than 2 years without a deep clean
  • Pet accident on a wool or silk rug (DIY will make it worse)
  • Rug smells musty after a humid stretch
  • Moving and want the rug fresh before it goes back down
  • Allergies and dust when you beat out the rug outdoors
  • Just bought a used or vintage rug and want it sanitized

What do homeowners ask about Rug Cleaning?

Can you clean a hand-knotted Persian or Oriental rug?

Yes. Hand-knotted rugs need an in-plant process — full immersion, colorfastness testing, flat drying on racks. Takes 5–7 days door-to-door. In-home extraction on a genuine hand-knotted rug is a shortcut that risks dye migration and fiber damage.

Will the fringe get cleaner?

Yes. Fringe is cotton and picks up every footprint. We hand-brush the fringe with a dedicated brightener before the main wash, rinse it separately, and re-comb it straight while the rug dries. The difference is immediate.

Do you charge for pickup and delivery?

No — pickup and delivery within San Diego County is included in in-plant jobs over 25 sq ft. For smaller rugs or for in-home drop-off we have a flat $25 trip fee.

How long will my rug be out of the house?

3 to 7 days depending on fiber and how saturated it is at pickup. Wool rugs dry slowly on purpose — forcing heat causes shrinkage. We text photo updates through the process.

Homeowners who hired us for this

Truck-mount made a night-and-day difference vs. the rental machine I had been using. Carpet looked brighter, dried in 4 hours, and no soapy feel underfoot. Clear price up front. Booked them again for October.

Melissa R. Carpet Cleaning · Carlsbad

Inherited a house with a cat-urine problem. Other cleaners said surface clean only — these guys did UV inspection, found spots we didn't know about, replaced pad in the worst room. Smell is actually gone. A year later, still gone.

David K. Pet Odor Treatment · El Cajon

Had a hand-knotted Persian rug my grandmother gave us. Every other cleaner wanted to extract in place — they picked it up, did an in-plant wash, delivered it back in 5 days. Fringe looks new, colors look brighter. Careful work.
